Oh my goodness... I am reviving my Substack and literally heard about tags for the first time today and asked in a paid group what they are and how to use them but didn't really get a response that helped me understand tags in the Substack ecosystem.
Then voila! Your post showed up in my feed and you gave me the exact explanation and demonstration I needed and wow... not only does it make so much sense what tags mean on Substack and how to use them effectively, but I can actually go and set mine up now!
Well, I don't have many posts yet, and I'm taking my Substack in a new direction but nonetheless, it helps think of how I want to organize my li'l corner here on Substack.
it's so frustrating that you can't just show all the tags on each post so users can just click on any of them to get to that tag. i don't want to have to list every tag as a nav item FFS.
I've had so much trouble with my laptop, trying to get my dashboard up. It actually let me sign up a duplicate account using my name etc. but I can't use it.
Anyway, I'm being followed by Elon Musk so god knows how it all works 🫣
All I wanted to do was organise my tags and stuff on my iPhone X
Please tell me there is a way to bulk update tags for posts. I've just imported my entire podcast history to substack...and I want to organise the homepage to show things which are tagged with 'podcast', and others which are 'posts', 'poetry', etc. I do NOT want to manually update 80+ podcast episodes one by one 😅
How do we send a feature request to be able to set the post order for the view-by-tags page? Currently, the reader can select from Latest, Top, and Discussions. When we publish serial posts, it would be good to have an option to display by tag in a predefined order.
This is so helpful! I was curious what platform you used to create this how to video? Premium subscribers on my Substack get access to an events calendar subscription I maintain, so I wanted to do a how-to to make sure it shows up in their calendar correctly when they go Premium. Thank you!

Thank you Linda!

Excellent, tags are a very handy way to organise things, thanks for the information!
Does this work for cross posts?

Can you use custom tags in NOTES? Would be great to be able to collect certain types of micro Notes posts.

This is so helpful. I thought tags on Susbtack served the same function as other platforms, for discovery.
How do you change the tabs on your homepage in the app.
I can only see “Posts” “Notes” “About” but can’t see to find a setting in the app to add or remove from that?
